Shannon Sharpe Confesses to Lying About Phone Hack After Explicit Content Is Streamed on Instagram Live

NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe has admitted that a brief, intimate moment shared between a man and a woman on his Instagram page was actually him, clarifying that the live clip was posted accidentally. Previously, Sharpe had claimed his account was hacked.

On Wednesday, Sharpe's 3.2 million Instagram followers were surprised to hear the sounds of a woman moaning during a livestream on his page. Though Sharpe didn’t appear in the quickly deleted video, he initially stated hackers were responsible for the incident.

"Beware, my @shannonsharpe84 Instagram was hacked this morning. My team and I are working vigorously to figure this out," Sharpe posted, only to delete it soon after.

However, during an episode of his Nightcap podcast later that day, Sharpe admitted the post was an accident. He explained that after tossing his phone onto the bed, he inadvertently went live during the private moment, which was unintentionally broadcasted.

“Obviously, I’m embarrassed. As someone who is extremely private, having one of your most intimate moments – the audio – exposed to the world is embarrassing for many reasons,” Sharpe said on the emergency podcast episode.
